4. Energy

Running a metaverse similar to that of earth, while storing vast amounts of memory on a giant cloud requires incomprehensible amounts of computing power and energy. In order for this project to succeed, it is critical to have a stable supply of electrical power, making it a necessity to have multiple sources of energy.

Underneath vast seabeds and frozen land lay giant bunkers containing hundreds of meta cloud servers that contained the minds of 1 billion humans. Hundreds of these bunkers were built across various parts of the earth roughly 5-20km beneath the surface. The energy required to run these bunkers were replenished by geothermal energy, but this was not enough.

The second source of energy came from the 'Dyson Mirror' that orbited earth. Located far outside of earth's cloudy atmosphere, the mirror was designed to absorb the sun’s energy with the capacity to store it for a week. When the atmosphere on earth momentarily cleared, a laser beam would send the energy to a receiver in energy storage facilities located on land. However the irregularity of energy being received meant that one more source of energy was needed.

The third energy source was ‘Fuel’, the most efficient form of energy ever developed. Created from anti-hydrogen in a mini hadron collider, scientists discovered a way to decelerate, capture, and store the smallest amounts of antiparticles, giving great liberty to humans that relied on inefficient energy sources like batteries. Fuel is stored in a capsule that allows for easy transportation and durability as it could withstand most impact. In the event of an unlikely capsule breakage, a massive explosion would occur, obliterating everything within a few hundred meters. Fuel is money in the new world. Those owning more fuel are able to materialize greater things in the metaverse, indicating that inequality still exists in the metaverse.
